Romania: Opposition Senator Claims Designated PM Lacks Full Party Support

The leader of the AUR party senators in Romania, Petrișor Peiu, reiterated that his faction will not vote in favor of a government led by designated Prime Minister Siegfried Mureșan, news outlet HotNews reported. Speaking to television channel Digi24, Peiu added that discussions with lawmakers from the National Liberal Party (PNL) suggest that not all members of Mureșan's own party intend to support him in an investiture vote.

Peiu's remarks came in response to an earlier statement by Mureșan, who said he would not approach AUR to seek its votes. No official response has yet been issued by Mureșan or the governing party regarding claims of internal dissent.
